(1). Mid-late 18th Century oil on canvas paining in the
manner of Claude Joseph Vernet, showing a rocky shoreline with a fortified
building on a cliff, a ship-of-the-line flying French flag nearby, and fisher
folk on the shoreline occupied with boats and gossip. Framed in 20th
Century carved and gilt wood 18th Century style frame. 16” x 20.” Appraised
by Joanna Badami Appraisals, Ltd. in 2002 at $10,000.
This painting, originally part of a pair, hung in my
grandparents home from the 1970s (see photo of my mother cc 1970s with the
painting in the background).
