　　**SPECIAL NEEDS**

　　Pepper is approx a 10 year old little lady (born in 2002) and is calm, quiet, sweet and loving. She was found with a serious eye infection and unfortunately had to have the eye removed, but that doesn't stop her from being a real joy! She takes a couple of days to warm up to you, but then loves being cuddled. Pepper will kennel at night or snuggle in bed with you if you let her. She will go to the door to be let out and is learning the doggy door. She gets along fine with her foster brothers and sisters, but would probably do fine as the only dog. She does startle easily by movement from the left because of her eye being removed, but is quick to recover. She really is a true little gem.

　　We just found out that Pepper has a collapsing trachea and the beginning of congestive heart failure. Everything can be controlled with meds and a low sodium diet at this time. As the heart issue progresses, she may require more visits to the vet and additional medications. The vet states that she could live on for another 4 or 5 years or more with the right care. Also, the vet said she would be more than happy to talk in person with a potential adopter about Pepper's conditions. She needs a calm, cool environment with older or no children at all. She DEFINITELY can not be kept outdoors.
