Chihuahua - Carl - Small - Adult - Male - Dog

　　Carl is a 15 lb., 2 year old neutered male Chocolate Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. We rescued him from PACC because he had kennel cough (doggy cold) and was very, very fearful. He is all over his kennel cough now, just has slight skin allergies that are kept under control with the right food and an occasional antihistamine. Carl is also working very hard to learn how to trust us humans. He now takes treats from my hand and likes to be petted gently on the head. He is afraid of being on a leash or restrained in any way, but we are working on that. He is making slow progress and I know will eventually make a great companion for the right person. He will need someone who is willing to be patient and kind. He gets along well with other dogs, but prefers females around his size. He is working on housetraining and uses the doggy door. As he is getting more comfortable, I can see the playful little guy coming out and he will run and play likes a puppy. He is mostly submissive with the other dogs, but will stand up for himself if he feels overly threatened. He does snap if cornered and afraid, but is slowly learning he does not have to do that. Because of his fear snapping/biting, he will have to go to a home with no children. He is okay with cats, but might chase them to play.
