　　Cpt. Bootsie was found cruising the streets in deplorable condition when Ace of Hearts was rescuing another dog from the very high-kill, county shelter of Downey. Safely JUST OUTSIDE this compound, life was still clearly very tough, but certain demise had been avoided. She was skin in bones with a scraggly coat and scabs on her ears, clearly not fixed, and had been bred several times. After the requisite amount of protest, Boots was scooped off the street and taken to a loving home. Who knows what any previous home life had been like, or the neglect shed endured, but her survival skills kicked in and Boots adjusted quickly, developing great manners!

　　She currently resides with 2 other big dogs and her confidence and trust in others grows everyday! Once out of her shell, Boots has personality for miles and loves long walks, snuggling in cozy spots, and dancing! She is housebroken and good on a leash, takes instruction well, learned her new name in less than a week, and stays politely while she waits for her meals. She may be a mix and is largely hairless, for those with allergy concerns. She needs a gentle handler who is patient and will help to keep her chin up with a chest scratch. The world was a very scary place not too long ago and Boots needs adequate exercise/walks and new experiences to enhance her confidence. She has come a long way in such a short time, a testament to her gratitude!
