My story

　　She’s your ride or die gal!Hi there! My name is Chevy. I’m a loving, affectionate girl who is working on building my confidence on the open road. I’m a 1.5 year-old, 35-pound, German Shepherd sweetheart. Even though I’m still a pup, I had FHO surgery for hip dysplasia. It doesn’t slow me down one bit. After building some strength, I can pretty much be all active. Speaking of surgeries… I’m already spayed too!My rescue story has quite a few pit stops. I was first found in a cardboard box at just 5-weeks-old at a gas station in North Park. I was put up for adoption and rescued by a kind family, but all the kids gave me a lot of stress. Growing up during the pandemic didn’t help with my socialization, so my family thought it would be best for me to be in a home with more experienced dog people. I’m hoping that this next road trip will lead me right into the garage… ahem, I mean home of my furever family!I’m still building my social skills with new people, I absolutely love other pups! I just need to have a lot of doggie friends and that keeps me happy! I would actually love another playful and tolerant sibling. I do show some resource guarding for high value treats and hence, mealtimes should be separate ideally. I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure what I think about them. When I’m not playing with other pooches, I enjoy chasing bees in the yard or chewing on a bone. I also adore walks and do well on the leash. Even though I enjoy some moderate activity, I’ll gladly sleep at my hoomans feet while they work or cuddle up on the couch for some snuggles. I’m a big love bug!I’m a totally trained girl who never has accidents in the house. I’m very smart and already know, “sit, down, touch, wait, and kennel.” Clearly, I’m also crate trained! The thing I need to work on most is building my confidence. New people make me nervous and I don’t like feeling cornered. I will growl or even bite if I feel threatened. I will absolutely shower my hoomans with love and kisses, but I just need time to build that trust. I’ve been getting better by meeting guests out on a walk and then having them over to the house. With baby steps and consistent training, I will keep learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.My ideal furever family is one without kids or lots of commotion and a lot of people over. I would love a furry brother or sister to keep me company and help show me the ropes. A yard would be amazing, but as long as I get out for plenty of walks and trips to the park, I’ll be a happy hound!
