CHEVY's story

　　Chevy was surrendered to the shelter because she was not doing well with her owner''s toddler child. Chevy apparently does well with children 6 and up but anything younger is just too much for her and she will become overwhelmed and start hissing and swatting. Chevy enjoys the company of adults, on her terms. Part of her behavior may be attributed to the fact that Chevy has only recently been spayed and may be hormonal! Chevy is also just still a young cat and can become overstimulated easily, so an older home or a home with mature children who know how to read cat body language and are willing to respect Chevy''s personal space when she needs it may be best. Chevy is an unusual character; sometimes she hisses at nothing or yowls out of the blue- she also has a patented ''pat-pat'' gesture which may indicate that Chevy is overwhelmed, but she seems to understand that she should not use claws. Chevy may just be a bit of an eccentric, and need a home that can accept her in all her unusual glory. It is unknown how Chevy does with other cats, dogs, or small animals, so caution should be used when attempting to introduce her to any other pets. Chevy is litterbox trained! If left to her own devices she may get on counters and into the garbage; Chevy is hoping for a home that can keep her busy with games and exercise appropriate to her age.
