Rare Charlie Parker album!
Recorded live July 6, 1948 at the Onyx Club, New York City. Released in 1955; Original first pressing on Jazz Workshop 501.
The cover is in Excellent condition. The biggest flaw is on the upper right hand corner where somebody tried to remove the price tag (see photo). The record label on side B has become completely unglued from the record but could easily be super-glued back on (see photo).
There are no seam splits on the top, side or bottom. There is absolutely no ringwear.
The record is in Near Mint+ condition. There are extremely slight, minor, superficial scratches that do not affect play. The record ISNT hi-fidelity and plays all the way through with no scratches, pops or crackles.
The personnel include:
Charlie Parker
Alto Sax
Miles Davis
Trumpet
Duke Jordan
Piano
Tommy Potter - Bass
Max Roach - Drums
This album was recorded when Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie were playing in different bands. A young Miles Davis replaces Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet.
This record is an artifact. It is, arguably, one of the earliest bebop recordings. Charlie Parker, along with others, are considered the originators of bebop. Parker is considered the greatest soloist, improvisers and innovators of the 20th century.
This album features Charlie Parkers most famous song, Night In Tunisia with Miles Davis on trumpet.
