CHANTILLY's story

Chantilly Lace (I added the `Lace` when she came to me) is the ultimate laidback, low-maintenance cat.
This beautiful off-white tabby`s day begins when I let her into the room from her overnight spot in the Arizona room. I always get a leg rub and she waits until I reach down to give her a backstroke. As I get ready in the kitchen, she`ll come in to remind me that I haven`t put out her treats yet. I throw some treats down my tile floor in hopes she`ll chase them but she just sits down to contemplate if she`ll go after them. But the temptation is too much and a few minutes later when I come out of the kitchen, there is no sign of the treats.
With that extraordinary amount of energy expended :, it`s time for Chantilly to jump up and lay down on her blanket on the couch for a cat nap. Occasionally she`ll try to rest on another couch, but she doesn`t seem interested in my bed or any other rooms in the house. Like I said, she`s a real laidback cat. When I come home after an outing, she may or may not acknowledge my return with a wee `meow` but she has awakened to watch me come in the door.
She is always ready though to sit on my lap when I sit down in my recliner but the leap onto my lap is followed by face-pushes against my hand. She wants her rubs and her favorite rubs are around her face, not just the scruff behind her ears. If I stop before she feels I have done it enough, the face-pushes start again.
She shows no interest in any toys, etc. Although she doesn`t `exercise`, keeping her on a food restricted diet keeps her from gaining weight.
Chantilly and I are the only `live ones` in this house so I don`t know how she is around dogs, cats, or children. However, if she gets frightened when I am holding her, she puts out her claws so I would be leery of her going to a home where children would be picking her up. When I have had adult guests, she initially hides but when she comes out, she is happy and content to have the guests pet her. I think the best home for her would be a single person, a couple who are gone to work during the day, or an elderly person who would enjoy the company of a quiet cat. Just want a cat for company when you are home? Chantilly Lace would love to curl up on your couch or lap and continuing resting.
