Hey, folks, my name is Chance! I'm a 5-year-old Rottweiler mix. I am on an adventure to find my forever home! My previous owner had surgery and couldn't keep up with a strong energetic fella like me. I have a ton of awesome qualities. My food, tug, and ball drives are through the roof, and I know I could be a rockstar at competition obedience, dock diving, tracking, you name it. Heck, I will even take up figure skating if a ball is involved! I'm smart enough to master any task.
My obedience is pretty darn good already if I have the right type of handler. I thrive working with someone who is fun, firm, and fair. If I find that the handler is not confident and knowledgeable about high drive dogs, I can get pushy.
Because my prey drive is so high, kids and small animals and a big no-no for me. I would do best in a home with no kids, small animals, or dogs (although I have been around mellow female dogs and don't seem to mind them.)
I love to be competitive! While that makes for awesome working abilities, it can make home life a bit of a challenge. I can get over-zealous about my toys and food, sometimes to the point where I won't let anyone near them, but I am a quick study. If you show me the rules of the house, offer consistent structure, and fulfill my drives elsewhere, I'm a peach to live with.
As confident as I am, some things still make me a little nervous. It takes me a bit to warm up to new people. I may bark or growl until I know more about them. Even though my previous owner was a man, I tend to do better with women. It's best to give me space and help my learn about new people from afar.
I know I sound like the ultimate go-getter, but I saved the best for last! I love to cuddle! I will curl up in your lap any chance I get and shower you with slobbery kisses! I love to snuggle with my handler almost as much as I love my ball (almost), and I desperately want to please.
If you think you can handle a strong and loveable hunk like me, please don't wait. Fill out an application today! Adoption fee is $200, and covers neuter, vaccines, deworming, flea and tick, along with a vet check. 4/25/18 10:03 PM
