This Carvers Guild Antiqued gold leaf Neo-classic ornamentation is contrasted against black and white ceramic tile to create a strikingly dramatic statement. A gadrooned edge is fastened into a bow against the black pediment above which soar three golden ostrich plumes. Four rosettes set off the inset beveled mirror. Small un-noticeable speck in the mirror.
For over 40 years, this Carvers Guild of New England has handcrafted wall mirrors that are in turns fanciful and architectural, but always truly unforgettable. And no wonder: Carol Canner, Carvers Guilds co-founder and creative director, finds a hummingbirds scarlet throat as beautiful and compelling as the ornate splendor of a Newport, Rhode Island mansion (which a number of her clients own, by the way). Among the Guilds most memorable offerings: gold- and silver-leafed mirrors featuring everything from quirky squirrels to Neo-classical forms.
