Carson's story
Carson is a beautiful beagle boy who is around two years old and weighs around 16 lbs. We dont know anything about his life before he ended up in the shelter but apparently, he was mistreated in some way. He remains somewhat skittish and he is still startled by sudden movements and noises, but this sweet boy has made amazing progress in the two months that he has been in his loving foster home.
When Carson first came, he chose to spend almost all of his time in a crate, emerging only to eat and to dart outside where he cowered in the corner of the yard. When we needed him to come inside, we had to go out to the corner of the yard where he was huddled, pick him up, and carry him inside. Now, he easily goes in and out the door almost every time. Now he loves to cuddle with his foster family and have his tummy rubbed and his ears scratched.
For weeks Carson watched as the other dogs in the household left for daily walks around the neighborhood. His foster family began to notice that he seemed very interested in the process and one day we tried taking him for a walk and he loved it! He wasnt even particularly bothered by passing cars. Now Carson absolutely adores walks around the neighborhood, at least once if not twice each day! He used to be very hesitant when visitors came to our home, but now he seems fairly comfortable with them and has even allowed some friends to pet him. When he first came, we didnt hear a peep out of him but now he has found his big, beautiful beagle voice!
Carson is a very special boy who will need a patient forever family who recognizes that he will likely need time to settle in and that his sweet personality is still revealing itself. He does great with other dogs and we think that he would do best in a home with a playful canine companion. He definitely needs a fenced in yard to run around in and to explore.
Carson has been neutered and microchipped and he is up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. He is being fostered in Huntsville, AL but is available for adoption in your area. If you are interested in this precious boy you may apply to adopt him at http://forrescue.net/dog- application/.
