My story

　　Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Well, she's in Colorado looking for her forever home!! Miss Carmen is a lover, and greeted me with the cutest tippy taps in her kennel! She is so gentle and full of love! She loved everyone she met today, both dogs and humans! She is great on leash, and knows sit! She loves being called a beautiful girl!

　　From her foster: "Looking for a new friend? Introducing Carmen San Diego! This lady is a stunner! She is also one of the hardest pups to photograph to date! Such a wiggle butt! Photos are not going to do her justice- picture cattle dog body with malinois Shepard coloring. So stunning! Carmen is...my best guess a cattle dog/GSD mix- and I've got a hunch there is a tad of husky in the mix. Carmen was dumped in the desert to fend for herself, so this girl is a survivor. She loves dog friends and is good with dog savvy cats. She knows sit and is working on other basic commands. Carmen loves encouragement and reassurance and overall is such a people pleaser. If you get her worked up playing you may even get a short howl-y serenade! Carmen has been with us for almost 3 weeks now and I can say she is such a great dog! She is going to be such an amazing addition to the right family! She does love being with her people and has some anxiety when left alone, although she seems to do much better when put in her own side room when we have to leave(we started crate training but she does much better in our spare room and is not destructive when confined to a single room). Carmen has really found a way into my heart. This girl was so anxious and nervous when we first brought her home and now she is cuddling on the couch and singing us little love howls. She has befriended Heimo and has stayed cautiously interested in our cat(they did sleep together last night curled up on the couch). She tolerates all the weird tests I put her through and manages to try to do her best to please and follow the rules."

　　Carmen Sandiego arrived to an overcrowded shelter as another unwanted stray that was left fending for herself in extreme heat and temps of 110 degrees plus, with no stable source of food or water, and no safe place to call home to keep herself safe from desert predators. Unfortunately, while she was alone on the streets she got pesky yet treatable heartworms (not contagious and extremely treatable). Carmen has been an absolute delight and is calm, well mannered, loves other dogs, and even did well making a cat friend! Will anyone see the wonderful traits that we see in Carmen and help get her the home she deserves?

　　Thousands of dogs and puppies are sitting in overcrowded, loud shelters. AAAR is giving our best efforts to rescue as many dogs/pups that are otherwise left to die or live their lives at a shelter alone.

　　We need the community's help!! Please consider fostering, volunteering, adopting, donating, and spreading awareness!

　　Most of these dogs and pups have never experienced love from humans before being brought to shelters. Consider falling in love with a rescue dog, and showing them what life is about!
