My story
Candie: 1 year old, black & tan w/white markings, spayed female, natural ears & tail, 12" & 12 lbs, shots up-to-date & micro-chipped. Rescued from shelter."Hello World! I'm Candie. I've had a bit of bad luck in my life. I'm what you might call a disposable girl. No one wanted me or provided a safe place for me, or regular food or even shelter, so I had to go looking for something to eat. While I was running around with a couple of other disposable dogs looking for food and a safe place to sleep, a man with a long pole caught us, put is in a truck full of cages and took us to the animal shelter.Let me tell you, the shelter is a really, really scary place! I mean, I'm barely a year old and I've already had a litter of pups. I was a baby having babies and the part of California where I live, people shoot dogs for fun, throw things at us, and sometimes if they can catch us, do really horrible things to us that hurts us really bad, so I was used to running from people. I mean, how does a young girl like myself know bad people from good people. Yep, it is much safer to just not let anyone touch me.In that shelter, there were lots of people wanting to touch me and look at me and give me shots they called "vaccinations", and it scared me almost to death. Literally, scared almost to death. The other girls that got caught with me were all pregnant and they were really scared too. We just didn't know what to do next.On top of those people that we were terrified of, it was loud in there. Dogs everywhere all barking at once. It was enough to give us girls splitting headaches. At least they put us in a warm building away from all those huge, loud dogs all barking at us like they wanted to eat us.Just before my short time on earth was up, literally, the IMPS lady came to get me out. There was a shelter volunteer who was really nice to me. She was so nice that I let her touch me. It felt soooo good to have a human be nice to me and her touch made me feel all warm and cozy inside. I let that shelter worker get me out and put me in a crate so the IMPS lady could take me to her house.I let my IMPS foster mom touch me and pick me up because she was so nice to me and she gave me really good, tasty food and lots of it. None of the other dogs who lived with her were afraid of her so I figured it must be OK.My life was starting to look like it was going to get better now, and I'd finally be safe. Then my foster mom took me to get me something called "spayed". That was not nice of her. I trusted her and she let me down. Well, I'm all healed up now and I forgave her because that is what us really great dogs do. We forgive, and we move on.I am learning to trust humans, and I can tell you this, I love, love, love getting petted and cuddling with my foster mom. I'm still not sure which one's I can trust, so I'm a little slow to warm up to new people. But, once I know I can trust you, my whole body wags in excitement to see you and I'll come running like a streak of black and white lightening, zigzagging all over the place to see you and get a little love.I'm still not very good on a leash, but my foster mom is working on it. I've learned to use the doggy door to go outside to do my business and I'm not destructive. I'm not a big barker either. It draws too much attention to myself. My foster mom says I'm ready for my forever home and the IMPS people will find the perfect home for me. She said they'd find me a home that will continue to reassure me that people are OK and help me grow into the girl I was born to be, not the one I became because no one loved me.I Candie, am waiting patiently to meet you. Would you please hurry?Love, Candie"For more photos of Candie, please see: Candie's Photo AlbumNOTE: Candie is located in Springville/Sacramento, CA and we will only fly her in cabin with Adopter.IMPS Tag: 30953ADD DATE: 01/24/20If you wish to adopt, please fill out our IMPS Min Pin Adoption ApplicationIf you have previously submitted an Application form, there is no need to re-apply.For more details, contact Gail: [email protected] is a non-profit rescue organization that does not have a viewing facility to which you can come and meet the dogs available for adoption.
