CALLIE's story
Callie (aka Callie Girl) was surrendered to the shelter because she had engaged in a serious dog fight with her housemate and sustained injuries that needed veterinary care (hence her right ear doing an impression of a doberman pinscher). While at the shelter, Callie has been introduced to several different dogs to see how she interacts with them. Callie is interested in other dogs but can be standoffish and will growl if another dog gets too in her face, so she will need a slow introduction to any canine housemates to ensure successful cohabiting. Mutual visits with any existing dogs in the house are highly encouraged, as Callie seems to get along better with quiet and respectful pups who understand her need for personal space. Callie also appears to prefer male dogs to females. Callie is a friendly, outgoing girl who likes to jump on people and jump over fences, so she will require a fenced yard high enough to contain her, an enclosed run, a safe tie out, or to be leash walked when outside. Callie is also a houdini and knows how to chew leashes to escape! Callie whines when left alone for too long, and is mostly housebroken. She has been keeping her kennel clean here at the shelter, so with a refresher course and consistent potty times in her new home, she should catch on quickly. She is hoping to find an active home that can keep her out of trouble!
