　　  Meet Cagney and Lacey!  Cagney is a 4-5mo neutered grey/white male and Lacey is a 3-4mo spayed calico female . Sadly, these babies both tested positive for FeLV.  They were individually rescued from the streets of Tijuana by a good Samaritan. They are not siblings, but have been together since their rescue. Unfortunately, the person who rescued them never tested them before placing the kitts together.  When ARWOB tested them, we found out the sad news. At this point, we don’t know who infected whom, but we know both are positive for the Feline Leukemia virus.This means they need a family or forever foster where they can live out their lives. FeLV is usually fatal and studies have shown that 80-90% of FeLV-infected cats will die within 3 to 4 years of initial diagnosis. The kittens will be retested for FeLV in 6 months, as sometimes kittens can receive a false positive because they have antibodies from their mother.  With Cagney and Lacey, it is very unlikely that this is the case.  Hence, anyone who is able to adopt or forever foster these babies should be someone who would be ready to go through the heartache of saying goodbye at a young age.  In our experience, kittens diagnosed this young usually start having issues somewhere within the 9 month - 2 year age range. Therefore, their caretaker should be someone who understands that when their times come, they will need to be euthanized so as not to suffer at home.  ARWOB will be able to help sponsor that process to make sure when the time comes there’s no suffering for the kitts. These babies are currently VERY strong and healthy. They are up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and sterilized. They love people, children, and dogs and are absolute sweethearts! Playing with their toys, sacampering around, and loving being cuddled by their human bring purrs and brighten their days. Interested in fostering or adopting only one kitten?Cagney, the male, is larger than Lacey and he has a tendency to be an exhuberant, rougher player than she is, and this is a  little too much for the little girl so we have decided it would be best for them to be adopted as singletons.It is best if we can find at least one of them a different foster or adopter. Someone is needed who would like to have only one kitten in the home to shower lots of love and attention on, and who does not plan on having another cat in the household unless it is also a FeLV+ feline.  These kittens must live in a home with NO CATS, unless there are cats in the home who are also FeLV+. Most importantly, they MUST be 100% INDOOR cats.   We are taking applications from people living in the San Diego area, as well as those living outside of the area, as long as you are willing to drive to San Diego to meet them.
