Caesar - a challenge's story
Caesar is four years old. He was born in south Scottsdale March 18, 2012. He has a few white hairs for a "bow tie", but is otherwise black. He is sleek, soft, healthy and beautiful ... and aggressive when scared. He loves treats and we can usually stop incidents by calling him to the "treat" area.
Caesar weighs at least 14 pounds. He has been in my home cat rescue since June 2014 and is loose with all the other cats. He was very aggressive when he arrived and still fights with some of the other cats. May be bi-polar. He hasn't hissed for many months.
Caesar now wants to be pet before breakfast unless I'm racing to set out plates. He now wants to sit in my lap and be loved if I sit on recliner. He is really soft!
A few months ago, my daughter removed him from the cat-forbidden hallway by picking him up and carrying him into the main part of the house. He only growled and she said, "You aren't Finn!" I chuckle every time I think about it.
Caesar was a very social cat in his original home and joined guests at dinner parties every week until a couple of regular guests (spouses) were accommodated due to allergies. When he and his sister were regularly shut out of this glorious experience, he became much less social. He's a beautiful cat, but not suitable for children or people without experience.
He loves to play, but there are too many other males for interaction with me. He gets distracted by them instead of the toy even when they are absorbed with the toy.
We would only consider an experienced adopter and would be happy for him to have a foster home, but we think he needs to be the only cat or with a cat that stands up for itself. He may never be safe for novices. He is a very handsome cat and we still think him worthy of a good home.
He is neutered and his distemper booster (good for three years indoor only) was September 5, 2013. We will update his booster before placing him. He is negative for FeLV/FIV..
FYI Caesar's sister who was terrorized by him has been rehomed. His only owner's life has changed significantly and she has a human adult to care for in an apartment, so cannot have her cats anymore. When Caesar hissed at her, she left him alone, so this had become a bad habit. The lady's brother played with him whenever the opportunity came up and was a participant in the dinner parties. He feels bad about the situation but was shocked at how aggressive he had become.
