You are bidding on an original oil painting by Chicago artist Charles Reinach, painted in approximately 1890. Charles Reinach was my great grand-uncle. This beautiful painting is a still life of red apples with walnuts, in a pewter bowl. The painting itself is on canvas and measures approximately 12" x 9". It is in its original giltwood frame, gorgeous with flowers and scrolls. The framed piece measures 18" x 15" x 3.25". The frame does have several missing sections of giltwood. In addition, one section appears to have been taped on. On the back, a card indicated the name of the painting and artist. The painting is signed in dark red, C. Reinach, in the lower right corner.Charles Reinach was born in Chicago in 1868. He was an artist of some renown at the time. He also worked as an engraver, postcard artist, and in related artistic fields in the Chicago area. He did exhibit in many well-known art shows of the time. He died in Chicago in 1930. A packet of photos and information about Charles Reinach and his life will be included with the painting, including photos of the artist, his wife, and an appraisal document. In 2011, this painting was appraised by Frederick Dose Appraisals in Highland Park, Illinois with a value of $950. Please be aware that this is painting is well over 100 years old. The frame does have some wear, although the painting itself seems to me to be in excellent condition. I have tried my best to represent the painting and its condition fairly. I will ship the painting via UPS Ground in a custom-made box (which takes approximately 1-5 days), unless instructed otherwise by the buyer. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have questions. Thank you for your interest in fine art, and the work of Charles Reinach!
