Buddy's story

　　This boy is so unbelievably lovable, affectionate and cuddly. He has completely stolen our hearts. Buddy is sweet, mellow and well mannered. He just wants to be loved on and give love in return. We believe he is a small Lab / Chow mix and is around 7 years young. He has a gorgeous thick coat and the most beautiful face. He is only 35 pounds and is on the small side for a lab mix. Buddy is very patient, even with higher energy, playful dogs at his foster home. Nevertheless, he would love to have all attention as the only dog in the family. He is the most loyal, affectionate and loving young senior who adores his people. Buddy likes to be with his family and ideally there would be someone home for most of the times. He would love nothing more than to be a couch potato and your full-time snuggle buddy.

　　Buddy is 100% housebroken. He only chews his toys, especially when they contain peanut butter. He walks well on the leash and doesnt require extended walks every day. He would love small short walks around the block, a ride in the car or some playtime in the yard. Buddy is good with other dogs and cats.

　　Buddy loves food and treats and he is working on his eating manners. Meaning that sometimes he still doesnt know where the treat ends and the hand begins. That is the reason we would like to see him living with older kids instead of little toddlers, who have their snacks and very tasty hands in reach.

　　You might ask yourself how a perfect dog like Buddy can end up at a shelter. Buddy came to the shelter in very bad condition. Not only was he a young senior, he was also Heartworm positive and caught a bad kennel cough on top of it. Enough reasons not to be adoptable. Friends of Rescue saw his misery and after weeks of hopelessness he finally got a spot in a foster home. Soon his foster family learned that he had an old injury, likely because he was hit by a car. This was life threatening and compromised his ability to breath. His diaphragm was ruptured and all lower organs pushed into the upper thorax. After being evaluated by a specialist we didnt know if all his conditions were treatable. However, Buddy was in such a good spirits and improving week after week, that after nearly 4 months he has a clean bill of health. What a trooper!!! He is a happy boy and when you see his tail wagging you know why he is so worth it. Thanks to Friends Of Rescue, in Huntsville Alabama, he had a second chance and he gave it a go. He still has so many good years ahead of him.
