My story
The very first thing that Bryce the Poodle/Bichon mix wants to make clear is that he's a love and so very beautiful. In these photos, you're not aware of his dark, gorgeous eyes that are filled with so much wisdom. There are golden streaks that run through Bryce's pure white, cottony-soft hair that are stunning. Bryce's hair will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is excellent for longevity and coat care). This regimen will keep Bryce's coat cottony-soft, matt-free and very healthy. Bryce snuck his way into the hearts of the shelter personnel who fell in love with this sweet spirit. From his tiny cage, Bryce's little nose would sniff shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Bryce is on your lap. He's so happy there because his relationships are so important to him. This 9ish year old guy is such a great age..old enough to be past babish behaviors and beginning to enjoy a mellow lifestyle. He's also young enough to have many healthy, active years remaining. At a very portable 12 lbs, Bryce is a great size to accompany his people everywhere a smaller dog is welcome. This beautiful Poodle/Bichon has been through so much in his life. The stress and environmental challenges like fleas/ticks that Bryce has suffered through resulted in skin dermatitis (unfortunately so common in dogs from the humid south). Following Farfel's Rescue speaking up to save Bryce's life, he was immediately put on antibiotics for his skin as well as oral meds and soothing supplements such as salmon oil. Bryce's coat is responding very well and vets anticipate that his hair will be fluffy and cottony-soft within a short time. Bryce is a super-friendly guy who truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Bryce was identified by rescuers as a sweet and engaging dog who will be a gift to a kind and loving dog-crazy family. Bryce is such a people guy...he loves older kids (hasn't been tested with children under 10) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Bryce with active retirees or a family with older dog loving kids who want an adorable and very friendly/engaging dog as a family member and best companion.Bryce will be a lap dog extraordinaire as well as a very sweet and loyal guy who loves his people like crazy and enjoys the fun of outdoor play and dog-friendly adventures.Bryce is a sensitive dog who views his family as his best friends. It is for these reasons that we'd like a family that is either retired, works from home or just works part-time. It's never a good idea to leave a dog home alone from morning to night while his family works full-time work hours. Bryce would be overjoyed with guardians that are very present and want to experience the wonders of the world with a super-cute and loving companion. Bryce will be overjoyed to walk with his favorite people along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his family. Bryce can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't ever be abandoned. His nature is to be very joyful and in just a few moments his silly and fun nature takes over. Bryce will be arriving on transport in Boulder in mid to late December.
