My story
Thank you so much for looking into Wags and Whiskers' The Cat House for the newest addition to your family.
They call me Bridgette, I have a pretty crazy, and super sad story. I was rescued by a Wags staff member who unknowingly witnessed myself, and a couple other kitties get abandoned at the Sacramento River! Bridgette and I were too scared to move, and we hunkered down together and cried loudly, hoping that our family would come back for us; that this was all a big mistake, a misunderstanding. After what seemed like an eternity, though we are told was only about 10 minutes, a voice began talking to us from the darkness, asking us why we were crying. We tried to explain that our family had accidentally forgotten us here, and the kind woman seemed to understand all too well. Without hesitation, this woman swooped us up, and started running with us! We were so scared, but we just squished in close to the lady and hoped that she, too, wouldn't leave us there alone. To our relief, she stopped at a vehicle and hurriedly set up a crate, and placed us inside, whispering a few words of comfort before abruptly running back off into the darkness, calling out for Bridgette and I's friend(s) that had been left there with us. After a few minutes, she returned and apologized to us for not being able to catch our friend(s). She then took us to her house, and told us that we were safe there until she could get us into the rescue and to our new home(s) where we would never have to worry about being tossed away, ever again. Over the last couple of weeks, both Bridgette and I have gotten mostly over our trauma, and are on the search for the family we deserve!
At Wags and Whiskers' The Cat House, we do not discriminate against any animal based on their age, current health, or pre-existing medical condition(s). We are a dedicated team of volunteers, with a strong passion for animals and a very special bond with the injured, abused and abandoned. Due to the fact that we work so closely with qualified veterinarians, we are able, and willing, to take on the most complex medical cases to help give them the chance, that ever animal deserves, at a full, happy and healthy life. Our primary goal is giving hope to the hopeless; your adoption helps make a difference.
All of our cats are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested, and will be spayed or neutered before being allowed to go home.
Unfortunately, we don't always know the background of each cat. Some were dumped, abandoned in an empty house, left in a box on the side of a road, picked up by animal control as strays, or simply unwanted by their owners.
