Used Boston Whaler 13. I bought this last spring and have had for 1.5 yrs. I have just used it as is, without doing any work to it besides the seating. Motor runs fine, strong battery. Johnson 18hp. New tank and battery. Has been used on local lakes to take kids out swimming. Last time out, spun the prop. Its a cool old prop but the repair shop quoted me $200-300 to have a new bushing pressed in and then the prop balanced. They ordered me a new aluminum one for $85 but it didn't fit. Choosing not to continue messing around with it, hence the sale. The recent work... here is what I know. The guy I bought it from had worked on it as a pandemic project. Cosmetically the work is far from great. On some of it, not sure why he bothered if he was going to do such a poor job. It looks like the gel coat is probably not in great shape with the fine cracking but it was just painted over. He painted over the original Boston Whaler decals as well. He put some fiberglass tape on the bottom of the hull but just painted over it so you can see edge of tape and strings from the tape. And it other places he must have globbed on caulking or foam insulation or something. He cut the light wires that run in the hull and tried to seal that up, not sure what he was thinking. And he did something on the transom, there is a picture. In the bow compartment, some sort of repair needed. There is no rub rail, its just painted black. And the black paint is on the sides as well, poor masking(maybe none?) or sloppy technique.I don't think it was well prepped, you can see the paint on gunnel just slid back to expose original paint. Trailer is in good shape. It has a half-hearted paint job (consistent with rest of project). He put on new tires, new lights. The wood is not original... It had some treated construction lumber when I got it. I used wood on hand and put in some oak for the benchs and bow compartment. And I think the clamps are maple. 3 coats of spar varnish. So that is what I know. It is definitely not a show boat, think I have made that clear. The boat feels solid, haven't noticed any soft spots but can't guarantee anything. Good fun but think I am more suited for canoe ownership. Let me know questions I'll try to answer. Willing to meet within a couple hours of Madison.
