or email [email removed] for any questions. ~~~~~~ Age: a very young minded 10 yr old girl. Breed/Coloring: Border Collie mix with a beautiful, thick black and white coat Size: Maddie is on the larger-medium size and weighs about 45 pounds. Rescue History: Maddies story is a tear-jerker she was a familys beloved pet for several years of her life and then one day they decided that having a pet was too much responsibility. They were not sure what to do because in some twisted way they still had a conscienceso they took her to a boarding facility in the San Fernando Valley while they sorted out their lives and thoughts. She stayed at this facility for months on end, living in a tiny 4 by 6 run. Maddie had a home and a family, and they threw her away like old furniture. As the family contemplated whether they wanted to make time and room in their lives for a family pet, Maddie remained at the boarding facility confused and abandoned. Ultimately, after 7 months of not hearing from her owners, the facility could not keep her forever and realized that living there indefinitely was not fair. Just when the boarding facility had no choice but to bring her to the shelter, a kind rescuer and volunteer at the facility had a broken heart for Maddies story and said she could come home with him for the time being until a new home was found. She is currently in this foster home and awaits her future forever family finding her very soon. Ideally, shed really love her very own home being that her current foster dad is not able to provide her with the ample love and attention she deserves. Personality: Maddie is very much a people dog, thats the best way to describe her. She enjoys more than anything being a companion pet and is in heaven when in the company of humans. She is not the needy type in that she needs people around her all the time, yet nothing makes her happier than to lay by her loved ones feet while they watch TV or work at the computer. Maddie is a low to medium energy dog, she can relax and chill all day on a dogbed or sunbathe in a warm patch of sun but gets super excited for her daily walks. Whats funny is that this girl can walk for miles and miles and then someshe loves to walk. When the leash comes out she starts bouncing around like a puppy. A warm bed, a walk or 2 a day with a yard or patio to get fresh air, and well have one happy Maddie. Maddie also LOVES the dogpark, again the bouncy puppy in her comes out and she is as giddy as ever frolicking and playing with the other dogs...you can literally see her smile from ear to ear when she's there. As a young dog, Maddies family did not provide her with adequate walks and attention which ultimately caused her to get out and sadly get hit by a car. They did not have the money to fix her hip so to this day she walks with a noticeable limp. She is fine, not in any pain, she has adjusted perfectly, and there is nothing we can do now.but she did have a broken bone that was not fixed properly. Dont underestimate this girls determination and spirit, once she sees a squirrel or something to chase she pulls and gets excited like shes an active and bouncy one year old! She definitely is a forever puppy and at the ripe age of ten she still thinks shes one. Maddie would be the ultimate pet for someone who does not want a puppy but rather an low maintenance, easy to care for dog that provides more than enough unconditional love. We could see her with a couple or individual that had kids around visiting b/c she lights up at the sight of their innocence and exuberance, not to mention eats up all the pets, love, and attention that children usually give to an affectionate pet like Maddie. Maddie defines sweet, she is gentle and kind with everybody she encounters. She is the perfect pet for someone who wants a low maintenance doggie who will provide an abundance
