　　The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer and need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

　　This lucky guy is Chess, a short- to medium-haired solid black kitten with gorgeous copper eyes. His body style reminds us a lot of Bombays, though the stout, blocky build could come from a parent (he also has a Russian Blue littermate with a blocky build). Bombays were first bred to resemble panthers, and became known as "parlor panthers." He sure does remind of of one! He's very handsome. He's approximately 5 to 6 months old. Chess and two siblings were rescued out of a very scary, filthy situation where they're lucky someone found them at all. Chess was a little scared at first, but his true friendly and loving self has already come out! He has adjusted to a much better life at our cat adoption center. He's turned into such a sweetie!! We've learned in just a short week that he's actually pretty affectionate, and will vocally call out to us for attention! So sweet! He needs a home where he can relax and feel safe and to get all the attention he can meow for! Despite a rocky start to life, this guy wants to be loved! Please stop in or contact us to meet Chess!

　　Our flat adoption fee is $75, a fee to help defray a fraction of veterinary costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits, and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care. Vet records are provided to adopters. Read the descriptions thoroughly and note the specific personalities or special criteria we recommend (some are not good around kids, other cats, dogs, etc.).
