  Blue's story

Hello everyone my name is Blue, but my foster mom calls me little boy Blue. I'm not sure why, because I'm a big boy weighing in at 74 pounds and I'm a year old. I am a handsome black purebred AKC Lab, if I remember correctly that stands for American Kennel Club. My original owner had to give me up because she was having back surgery and would not be able to care for me afterwards. Luckily the good people from DLRR stepped in and gave me a second chance to find my forever home.

Even though I'm a year old I'm still puppyish and need supervision and of course more training. I do know how to sit, give paw, and working on leash manners. My foster parent take me and my foster brother for a walk everyday. I'm learning not to pull too much but, get distracted very easily. My foster dad said we need to sit and look for cars both ways before we cross the street, safety first! If it means putting my tush down for treats, I'm all in!! I love to play tug o war with my foster brother Dexter, being outside, although you may need to keep a close on on me because I love to pick up twigs, branches, and rocks to chew on. It also becomes a fun game of playing chase with mom. Tennis balls are not a good idea yet, because I would rather chew the outer coating off the ball, rather than bring it back. Oh, I also love to swim, when I was hanging out at Furshire, the nice people there introduced me to the pool, and like most Labs, I love to play in the water and swim.

I have never been around cats, Im not even sure what that is, but, I love people and animals so I would probably be ok with a kitty brother or sister. I love to play tug o war with my foster brother Dexter, chewing on my toys, and being outside. Although you may need to keep a close on me because my puppy side tend to come out, and I'll pick up twigs, branches and rocks to chew on. Then it becomes a fun game of mom chasing me to take whatever I pick up off of me. P.S., don't tell my foster mom, but, most of the time I do it purposely, because what Labbie doesn't like a good game of chase. I love to ride in the car and check out all the new sights, smells, and whatever adventure is in store for the day. I'm not aggressive towards my food, in fact I have to sit and wait until I'm told to "get it". Although I'm not 100% on this command, I'm really getting the hang of it quickly. I play well with my foster brother and show no aggression towards toys. If my brother Dexter takes the ropey away from me, I will find another toy to play with.

Well folks that wraps up the story of me. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the most important points about myself, Im fully house broken, with no accidents and I'm trustworthy while my foster parent go to work or run errands!
