A nice early (mid 1990s) example Bike Friday "Companion" foldable bike.
This bike has 20" quick release wheels. It can folded easily to fit into
a car trunk or other small space. It has Shimano 21 speed gears with
twist grip shifting. To achieve the 21 speed it has a 3 speed internal
geared rear hub and a 7 speed cassette with normal derailleur. It has a
rear luggage rack and front and rear fenders. This bike is in very good fully
functional condition. The rear derailleur shifter was broken and has
been replaced with another shifter of same type but colors of shifter
housings don't match. It could use new tires as the gum sidewall tires
have aged and show signs of cracking. I expected this bike to be
unstable with such small wheels but it's totally not. It's a really cool
bike, fun to ride and would be a great city commuter. Bike Friday are
sill very much in business and their more recent models similar to this
bike retail for over $1600.Frame number is 617 - the 617th frame built by BF who started in
business in 1992Bike is currently partially disassembled and packed in
used Trek kids bike box ready to ship to who ever might want to buy it -
hopefully.... Precautions taken to protect the bike in shipping include
removing pedals and QR skewers and placing in smaller box inside. Rear
rack and fenders removed. Plastic axle protectors on wheel axles. Extra
layer of cardboard inside the box. Everything zip tide and foam pads
where needed.
Box measures 43" x 9" x 25" and weighs just under 36 pounds.
