  My story

Please go to our website at  to find out more about this pet and to submit an adoption application.  Please DO NOT call or email us; all information about current dogs available, adoption donations, vetting, and this specific dog are on our website. We are a non-profit organization and we are completely 100% volunteer run. We DO NOT have a shelter and only approved applicants can make appointments with our foster homes to meet the dogs we have. Our volunteers will not discuss dogs we have available for adoption UNTIL you have an application on file and are approved to adopt.General Notes | Want to adopt this dog?  Please do not email us.  Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.   Health Notes | This girl is completely healthy, she's had all of her shots and has been spayed and is heartworm negative. Other Dogs | Maizey absolutely LOVES other dogs. She attends daycare daily with her foster mom and plays with everyone that will play back. She wrestles hard and loud, but understands social cues if another dog doesn't want to play with her. We have yet to find a mean bone in her body. She also does wonderfully at home playing with her foster sisters. She is not food or toy aggressive, and will happily play tug-of-war with anyone who will let her.Cats | UnknownChildren | Unknown for sure, but would most likely be a great cuddle partner for older kid siblings. Depending on the family, she may need some training with boundaries because she would happily climb into anyone's lap who will let her. She does tend to jump when greeting adults, but she has not been introduced to any younger kids since being with Mile High.Training | She is very smart and seems food motivated enough for easy training. She is great with the basics, no, sit, leave it, wait. Once she gets a dedicated name, she'll need some work on basic recall. Her only flaw is she does bark when anything startles her, mostly new and loud noises, but they seem to be more guard dog reflexes rather than fear or aggression. She does wonderfully in a crate, although if she has exercise and energy releases throughout the day, she doesn't need to be kenneled. She is very happy sleeping through the night in your bed. She learned the dog door in about 5 minutes, but while rare, she will have an accident if she doesn't know how to get outside.Leash | She is like any lab, will sniff and pull when she's walking but nothing excessive and she responds to training very quickly.Activity Level | She has a lot of energy, but it is all positive. She just wants to play or run. She is easily excitable and always eager for attention. If she does not go to an active family, she would do best with another playful dog at home or regular visits to daycare for socialization and exercise so she doesn't become bored and destructive. She absolutely LOVES to play with toys and chew on bones as a past time.Personality | She is very sweet and loving and the perfect mix of independent and loyal. She loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. She seems to be very gentle in nature, but happy and energetic if she is allowed to be. After spending time with her, we would guess she is closer to 1 year in age rather than 2. She would make the perfect companion for an active family that will give her all the love and attention she deserves.Story | UnknownThank you! | Thank you to Bri for taking in this sweet girl.Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $425 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $375 for 1-6 years, $325 for dogs 7-10 years, and $175 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $475. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only.  To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for 90 days from the time of approval for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. October 2, 2022, 6:32 am
