My story
Benny is a sweet little guy. His exact age is unknown, he's had at least two previous owners. After his intake exam, he's on pain meds for arthritis - BUT his blood work came back normal and his teeth look incredible for a little dog! He's housebroken and crate trained. He will not be able to walk very far due to arthritis, but he would love to just hang out with you. His adoption fee is $150.UPDATED notes from foster: Benny is doing great.
No pain meds for a week.
He now enjoys being a lap dog, and he is using only dog beds with no interest in retreating to a crate.
He was actually playful and happy to see us when we returned from our walk this am, doing the downward dog play.
He went up the stairs on his own last night before I had a chance to pick him up and carry him as usual. Previous notes from his foster mom: 1. He is arthritic and needs to be in a one story home with no more than two steps to outside potty area.
He does not/cannot jump on furniture/human bed so should not be put there alone as he will jump down and possibly hurt himself.
He needs to be picked up properly to avoid hurting his arthritic hips; he has yelped/snapped on a bad day when being picked up.2. He isn't much of a lap dog but does follow his humans around and wants to be in the same room with them, especially at night.
Recommend an open dog bed or open crate at night so he can move around and keep his joints looser.
Should not stay in a closed crate for more than short periods of time.
He has been fine left free in house for 1-2 hours.3. He is hard of hearing so startles easily and doesn't respond to voice.4. Recommend a fenced yard as he may wander too far otherwise and not hear someone calling him.5. He whines by the dinner table even after finishing his own dish.
He whines if humans are sitting in a room where he does not have a bed.
Sometimes he whines for unclear reasons.
Barks occasionally.6.
Not interested in chewing/playing with dog toys/balls. 7.
Best in a home with no kids and few people.
Gets along with men and women; follows both humans around. Please fill out an application here if interested - https://form.jotform.com/154
