My story

　　Bella G is an 18 lb dachshund mix that is so sweet, and so soft, you will think you are petting a marshmallow. Wherever you happen to be in the house, that is where she will want to be as well, as she wags her tail and looks up at you with her big, beautiful golden eyes. Often, she will jump onto the couch because she wants to be held or given affection, and if you stop, she will nuzzle you into starting up again. Once she falls asleep against you, she can lie like this for a very long time, so if your home life is Netflix and chill she is most definitely the dog for you! She is an angel on long car trips, although new places and people can still make her nervous.

　　Her favorite type of play is on the couch, with her lying on her back pawing at the air and delivering the softest of feather-light doggy bites. If you have a yard, that is all the better. You can see the joy that frolicking through thick green grass brings her. She runs to pudgy kind of quickly, so it is a good thing she looks forward to a daily walk. A 20 minute walk is plenty for her. She must always wear a leash because she will make a mad dash for squirrels but otherwise walks very politely at your side. She hasn’t yet shown any interest in toys, but is an eager chewer of bones and treats. She has never once chewed anything in the house.

　　Bella is easily frightened by loud noises, especially fireworks. To calm her fears, it helps for her to have a safe space, such as a small dog crate with a comfy bed in the corner of the living room where she can watch the goings-ons and reemerge once she feels secure again. (Without a safe space she will dive under furniture or behind electronics.)

　　Bella is fine being left at home while you work. She will greet her family each day as a wiggling, bouncing little ball of joy. She gets so happy that she doesn’t know what to do with herself, and will often bury her face in blankets with her paws over her muzzle. And sometimes, she gets so happy that you are home she lets out a little dachshund style howl. There are particular people that she doesn’t ever seem to warm up to, and we are not sure why. She shows no aggression towards children or other dogs. We have never had her around cats. She is shy at first, and may hide for the first week or two, but once she warms up to you she is an absolute little sweetheart.
