I do NOT use stock photos or canned descriptions. The vast majority of buyers want to see an item's actual condition, not
glossy photos
from the manufacturer's site. You can find the manufacturer's description and
specifications via online searches.
Pictures may include test equipment, cables, connectors, and
auxiliary equipment that are NOT a part of the auction. Read the description
carefully so you know exactly what you are bidding on.
This listing is for a fantastic Kenwood KD-500 direct-drive turntable that is in EXCELLENT cosmetic and working condition. NOTE: The tonearm shown in photo 12 is NOT included (it is a separate auction). As with a few of my recent auctions, I am selling this for a friend whose husband passed: She has entrusted me with the selling of her late husband's hi-fi gear. This is one of a handful of times I have listed something on behalf of someone else. Because I was not the previous owner, nor do I know this item's complete history, please know this Kenwood KD-500 turntable is being sold as-is. (Check my feedback and item descriptions if you're concerned about the integrity of my listings--I'm an engineer, not a salesperson, and I have no reason to deceive anyone.) If I didn't already own a super-nice turntable, I would have purchased this for myself. It appears to be in perfect working condition. The dense resin base (resembling white-beige granite or marble) offers good isolation and acoustical properties. If you're viewing this auction, you probably already know how good these turntables are. I'm not an expert on it, but a lot of info can be found online. Most of this turntable's original packaging is included, which will make for safe shipping. The outermost carton shows a bit of wear-and-tear, but the inner carton is in excellent shape. Everything is as pictured, so view all photos carefully. Again, this listing is for the turntable ONLY; the tonearm (visible in photo 12) was not installed before I brought the turntable home. Based on hardware installed on the plinth, it seems apparent my friend had planned to equip this Kenwood KD-500 with the Infinity Black Widow that I'm also selling (noting the tonearm auction ends shortly after the turntable auction concludes). I also have a few phono cartridges to sort through--most them MM (moving magnet), but possibly a moving coil (MC) or two. I'll be testing the cartridges on my personal setup so I can get this Kenwood KD-500 packed in a timely manner. As it is, it's almost ready to go out the door. Be aware this is a relatively heavy turntable at 40.5 pounds shipping weight according to the manufacturer. The machined platter is in EXCELLENT condition. The "STAT MATIC" mat is in very good condition. The original Kenwood dust cover looks great (no cracks, but has the really fine scratches acrylic seems to get just by looking at it). The dust cover's hinges work well. That's about it; please write if I missed anything important. Reminder: I do not ship to addresses
outside of the USA (sorry for this, but eBay's so-called International Shipping
Program has repeatedly failed me). Thank you for viewing!
I'm batting 100%
positive feedback after nearly two decades of buying and selling on eBay. I
kindly leave positive feedback for those who do the same. Some recent feedback
(as a seller) includes: "Possibly the best seller on eBay
I've dealt with. Highly recommended." / "An extremely helpful seller!
Thank you for everything." / "Great seller! An
expert in sound measurement. Very responsive to questions." Prior to my current username, I had over 2000 combined selling and buying
reviews with 100% positive feedback (I've changed my username once or twice over
the many years).
I do not entertain best offers, nor do I end auctions early.
Item will be sold to the high bidder (heck, a single bidder might get a fantastic deal). My auctions are
old-fashioned auctions--the way they ought to be.
Payments must be received
within 72 hours after end of auction. Items not paid for after 72 hours will be re-listed.
No returns (buyer's remorse shouldn't be the seller's
responsibility--see * below). Nothing in this listing is misleading.
Photos are an integral part of the description: View
all photos carefully. If something isn't clear, write before you bid.
I pack items with great care--the same way I'd like to receive a
delicate or valuable item. Like other sellers, I do not have control over shipping
costs or carrier delivery time. Small-
and medium-sized items will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Large parcels
will be shipped via UPS Ground. Unlike Jeff B,
neither eBay nor I operate our own shipping services--this means no
"prime" or overnight shipping.
*Here's why I no longer accept returns: Too many bidders
with buyer's remorse had intentionally damaged
perfectly good equipment in order to receive a return. In other instances, buyers
were simply incompetent: Equipment was damaged because these buyers
did not know how to properly use it; yet, they wanted refunds because of the
damage they caused. Bottom line: NO MORE RETURNS! If the wrong item is shipped
(I have yet to do this), I will promptly exchange the item and pay for shipping
to-and-from the buyer. Please understand what you're buying is USED (unless it's
clearly stated as new).
RE electronics equipment: I encourage all viewers to
compare
my listings to other sellers' listings and photos: If a printed circuit
board is on anything other than an ESD mat, then the seller doesn't know
how to exercise appropriate ESD
precautions. Many electronic devices are easily compromised or destroyed
due to
improper handling. I use
appropriate ESD protection measures when handling
static-sensitive equipment. Items that are ESD sensitive will be shipped
in
anti-static wrapping. On Aug-19-23 at 12:46:24 PDT, seller added the following information:Updated photos posted 8/19/2023: I found additional accessories that go with this Kenwood KD-500 turntable. As you can see in the new photos, there's an extra tonearm mounting plate (or armboard) and a 45 RPM adapter. The diameter of the hole in the armboard measured 20mm (or about 13/16 in). The 45 adapter also serves as a stylus overhang gauge. In addition to these photos, I have also included a photo showing the underside of the original, outer shipping carton. I reinforced it with extra strong packing tape. This turntable is ready to be shipped.
