Beau's story
Beau is a gorgeous 1-2 year-old Great Pyrenees/Retriever mix who has survived a lot of hard street living during his few short years. Sweet Beau buddy was rescued from the 5th Ward in Houston, an area with one of the largest stray dog populations in the country (some studies estimate that the Houson streets are currently overrun with over 1 million homeless dogs). One of our favorite street rescue partners saw Beau, looking really rough and downtrodden, on one of her feeding runs and she couldn't get his sad eyes out of her head. Beau's rescue hero contacted us and begged us to make room at our Underdogs inn if she was able to find him again. We love our fellow rescue heroes and couldn't very well turn away those sad Beau eyes, so we told her to go get that buddy! Since the day he left those streets in his rescuer's rearview mirror, Beau has been living the true Underdogs dream! Even when he was still filthy and emaciated at his first vet appointment, his tail did not stop wagging and it's been nonstop wagging ever since.
Beau loves peeps and pups alike and will happiness play bow and hop all around the house, even when he's just play bowing with himself :). He can't get enough of all the love and affection that he had long been missing and his favorite thing to do is hug his humans to say thank you. Beau is house trained, does great on a leash and plays wonderfully with other dogs.

Underdogs is a small volunteer-based animal rescue and we unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to phone and email inquiries about our adoptable animals at this time. If you're interested in learning more or setting up a meeting with one of our animals, please complete an adoption application first. Thank you!
