My story

　　Play, cuddle, eat … repeat!

　　Hi, fuzzy friends! My name is Banjo, and I’m a 2-year-old neutered Terrier mix male.  I’m a healthy guy and weigh in at 26 pounds.  I was rescued from the Ensenada Pound, and I’m super excited to get the second chance I deserve!

　　My foster parents say that I’m the sweet and spunky boy who craves constant attention, cuddles, and love!  I’m a medium-energy type of guy, and I’m super playful with doggies, humans, and toys.  In fact, I always tend to have a toy either in my mouth or within paws’ reach.  I enjoy getting belly rubs, emptying out the toy bin on a daily basis, and being by your side.  I’m generally a confident, happy-go-lucky dude when in a familiar environment, but I can get slightly timid when in new situations.  However, with a little encouragement and patience, I come out of my shell quite easily!  I also have a mischievous side, as I like to gnaw on things that I’m not supposed to.  Thankfully, this doesn’t include furniture, but I tend to be attracted to smaller/inexpensive items that are laying around (such as water bottles, metal lids of candles, houseplants, etc.). Be sure to keep those out of reach until I learn that those are off-limits!As far as my training goes, I think you could say I’ve pretty much mastered going potty outside (as long as I have frequent yard access throughout the day).  I’m also fully crate-trained.  In fact, I sleep inside my crate each night, and go in unprompted without ever making a peep.  My foster parents also crate me during the day for short periods while they are home, and there hasn’t been any issues.  One thing that I do need some improvement on, though, is my leash manners.  While I can be stubborn, I am also very smart and food-motivated, so I think a little bit of training will go a long way! Another thing I’ve been working on is my anxiety.  I struggle and get anxious when left completely alone at home, so I’ll need some training in that area, as well.   

　　My ideal home would be one that has a doggie sibling who could play with me every day.  If that’s not in the cards, a family who would take me on all of their adventures and activities would suit me just fine, too.  As I mentioned before, I’d also really thrive with proper obedience training.  I know that with a little love, effort, and patience, I can become the best boy I can be!  I get curious around kitties, but don’t feel the need to chase them.  Toddler kiddos are probably not the best fit for me, but I think I would do okay with older kids (approximately 10 years and up) who are polite and respectful.  Other than that, I love lounging around, so letting me snooze on the couch and the bed would be two paws up in my book.
