However, U would NEVER "Know' it NOW. My Dog 'T-Bone" is "Fiercely LOYAL & & Protective" along with 'Always ENTERTAINING when He is in a "Playful Mood"... These Dogs are likewise "Extremely INTELLIGENT" ... So Be "prepared' to Be On your "toes" at all times. Have NOT BEEN dissatisfied in my decision EVER in getting my 1st "BANDOGGE" Breed ...!!!

  Leslie:.

He is an "American Bandogge produced byCaliforniaBandog Mastiff. U can take a look at the Pics in my Albums ... His daddy is "Guapo" from the (Land of the Giants PitBull Line) & & Momma is 'Mafana" a Bull Mastiff ... Bobby wanted a "BIG DOG"... after we "lost" our Full Blue-nosed PitBull "Monakaeya" ... We Got Him from SF last Feb. 2011 right now He is about 15 months old & & weighs about 125 lbs. & & stands about 6 foot when he "standing" next to Bobby. Bandogge, Mastiff, APBT, Bandog.

The word "Bandogge" is the name for any Bulldog Type Mastiff type. The Bandogge has a really prominent musculature and an angulation that gives the canine a very athletic and active

  appearance

. American Bandogges are not purebred pet dogs, in the method we understand the word "purebred". Their origins is of American Pit Bull Terrier and Neapolitan Mastiff. There are some kennels who do produce Bandogs successfully in many generations, without including blood from other breeds, and have gotten a homogeneous type.

In the late 1960's a veterinarian by the name of Swinford started a breeding program which was eventually to produce the best of all protection dogs. Though breeders of Bandogges today disagree on just what types entered into Swinford's original breeding plan, the basic compromise is that it was 50 % American Pit Bull Terrier and 50 % large molosser.

The most typical approach utilized to produce a Bandogge is to cross a great game male American Pit Bull Terrier with a big and strong

Neapolitan Mastiff lady. Another rather common approach made use of in reproducing the Bandogges is to cross an English Mastiff with an American Pit Bull Terrier. The American Canine Hybrid Club acknowledges the American Bulldog crossed with a Mastiff as an American Bandogge.

The Designer Dogs Kennel Club recognizes the American Bulldog crossed with the Mastiff as the American Masti-Bull. Likewise a similar cross is the Pit Bull Terrier and the Bullmastiff cross, however this cross is not called Bandogges however rather a Pit Bullmastiff. The name Bandog was used in the old England by the Saxons and comes from the word Banda,-a Saxon word for chain. It was typical practice to tie the pet by day, and launch him in the evening to enable him to carry out his guard tasks.
