The BACH TR200-SOL SG (SILVER AND GOLD) SOLOIST silver plated model with the gold trim kit is an Intermediate level Bach trumpet (STD-1, TR200S, MG290, OMEGA INTERMEDIATE MODEL) with many professional features. It's specially made for the USA market and distributed by Brooks May music stores.
This horn is built precisely like a BACH STRADIVARIUS MODEL 37, as it has the #25 Leadpipe and a #37 Bell, only this is the two-piece bell versus the one-piece bell on the STRAD.
It features an standard .459" medium-large bore that is both responsive and focused, two-piece hand-hammered 4-13/16" yellow brass bell is spun on a professional Bach bell mandrel and is finished off with a soldered bell wire making it extremely responsive with a colorful and broad sound.
The professional Monel piston material provides smooth and quick action. The 1st valve thumb saddle makes for easy intonation adjustments. This particular BACH has been completely refurbished.
It's had a CHEMICAL BATH, DENTS REMOVED, DEODORIZED, SNAKED,
NEW VALVE GUIDES, NEW VALVE SPRINGS, NEW VALVE STEMS (Valve stems in photo will be replaced before shipping and are NOT the ones in the photos), CAP FELTS, VALVE STEM FELTS, NEW SPIT VALVE CORKS, ADDED NEW SLIDE "O" RINGS, REPLACED SLIGHTLY CORRODED 3RD SLIDE RING.
I then removed all the tarnish and polished each and every reachable exterior surface with a fine silver polish cloth using a polish that inhibits tarnish.
All the valves are free of friction and highly responsive like a new trumpet. The valve casings on this horn look superb from 2 feet away, but a close-up inspection will reveal that this horn has some light porosity and corrosion issues on the exterior of the valve casings, which do NOT affect the great sound and playability of this horn.
Whoever owned this trumpet in the past had sweaty, sweaty hands.
I did the best I could with my amateur silver plating machine to polish, clean, and replate the affected areas primarily on the upper parts of Valve 1 and Valve 3 with silver.
I would seriously recommend wearing cotton gloves (included in the trumpet case) while playing this horn to prevent further corrosion issues.
I am a very fussy trumpet player from waaaay back, and this is still a gorgeous horn that will be the envy of all of your junior high or high school student who is an ADVANCED PLAYER.
I love this style of horn and own one myself for practicing; it is the very next best thing to owning a Stradivarius---yes, I have one of those too, but I only use it for concerts, playing taps at veteran funerals, or driving the relatives insane with Christmas music in December. This trumpet comes in a custom Bach black embroidered SOLOIST trumpet case cover.
Remove the trumpet case cover and you will find a superior black leather hard case bearing the BACH and the SOLOIST logo, WITH THE KEYS (See photos)!
It will arrive with an excellent condition BACH 5C gold-plated mouthpiece.
It will also contain a maintenance kit to include a few spares (springs, corks, felts, valve rubbers), valve oil, slide grease, a cleaning tool, and a custom Blitz Silver Polishing Cloth (new) and perhaps a few bonus goodies like a mute or some candy or both, and a pair of white cotton gloves.
This trumpet is better than an 85 on a scale of 1 to 100, is ready to play right out of the box, and will make your Junior High School or High School musician jump for joy when they open it.
