Updated 12/14/21Meet Babs! This little lady came to ARWOB on 11/2020, which means she is the longest resident under our care. She was rescued off a motel parking lot in Arzona by a good sam traveling when the teen kitten approached for food. Aside from that, we don't have a history of her past. She was first fostered in a home with no pets, 2 adults and 2 children 6-10yr and they had nothing to report except she was independent, fun and loving with no issues with anyone. We moved Babs to our cat adoption center for exposure and realized she disliked cats. At that point we had lost the foster family as they no longer could foster her and we had to move Babs from the center and ended up with our ARWOB president/founder who has several personal cats and foster cats/foster dogs. It was a rough beginning trying to separate and manage the situation, but, as of today, she continues in a home with multiple dogs and cats only because her current foster has experienced handling dogs and cats and can manage the situation. BUT, time is running out for Babs as she needs to find a family or foster ASAP by end of year. Notes from her foster:Babs' ideal forever home or temporary foster: NO cats, No dogs, and NO kids. She is a very sweet cat and her foster would adopt her if she didn't own 3 senior cats (Babs will 'let be' 2 of the seniors, but attack the third and even the other 2 she has to be able to supervise the playtime) and didn't foster other ARWOB cats and kittens. Babs seems to do 'ok' with the young kittens under 3mo of age, but still under supervision. Any other cat is a NO GO and, for this reason, she is not able to stay with her current foster longer than the end of the year. She has been with her foster for 8 months and is a very smart and loving cat. She can also be spicy and unpredictable until you know her antics. Once you learn to read her body and behaviors, you can anticipate when she is planning on biting or scratching.Thankfully, with her foster, she is amazing and restrains herself from doing either.. likely because she knows she can trust her foster and knows better than to bite/scratch and hasn't done either in months. We think she will be an amazing cat to a cat owner who is looking to have only one cat at home and no other pets. Her current foster also fosters dogs and as long as they ignore or leave her alone, then Babs is fine ignoring them as well. Babs potential for love biting and scratching is the reason we prefer a home with no children, at least not younger than 15yrs old. A foster or adopter is of most importance and they need to know the first couple of days of \Babs moving into a new home could be a little stressful for her, which would mean she will need space and time to figure things out. She is not likely to be a scared/shy cat at all since Babs is a very secure and brave cat who is also VERY smart and her guard will be up with the changes. But, as soon as she knows there is no danger and it's safe, she will likely let her guard down and start showing the foster/adopter how sweet and fun she can really be. Babs is excellent for someone looking for a clean, quiet, healthy and independent cat who seeks attention occasionally through the day purring and trying to lay next to you at the computer and is a huge purr motor when cuddling in bed. Things like loud noise, too many people, etc don't scare Babs as she is really fear free. She also loves cat toys and can bat around toys all day long, which means she can entertain herself just fine through the day.Babs will be attending our cat adoption event 12/18 and 12/19 we really hope you can stop by to meet her or submit an application online to schedule a meet and greet outside of adoption event days/times. Thank youWe recommend a foster to adopt trial for Babs and anyone interested in fostering to adopt or adopt this beautiful and smart girl should submit an adoption application online at arwob.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
