Axel's story
Axel is looking for his forever home! His owner had discovered unfortunately that he does not do well with cats, and is looking to re-home him. We want to disclose that he dislocated his hip and needed surgery about about 6 months ago. His hind leg was in a splint for two weeks and since he has had the splint taken off, the muscle mass in his leg isnt fully back to where it needs to be but no further surgery is required. It was a pretty bad dislocation so they anticipated a long recovery. He can walk normally and can still run and is very fast but just when he walks casually, you can see he doesnt put the full weight of his body on that leg
typical husky wanting to play and have fun, but with some limitations. We would just recommend being cautious with play for a little bit longer, but longterm prognosis is great. We have full medical records from his surgery that will be provided to an adopter!
Hes a big cuddle bug deep down that would just want pets all day long. He has lived with children as you as 7 years old with no problems and was raised with a child this age from a puppy, so he is likely more used to children than most. He is a little stubborn, but what husky isnt! He gets along well with the three golden retrievers in his home currently, and loves playing with them. He loves to play with rope toys as well. He is kennel trained and hasnt has any accidents in the house since he was potty trained as a baby. He will let you know by walking along the blinds that he has to go outside to go potty.
He does have a prey drive for small animals like cats, and potentially small dogs, so we would recommend he go to a home with large dogs only and proceed with caution around any very small dogs. Outside of his prey drive, he is a sweet, loving boy! He occasionally tries to peak into the trash and has some mischievous qualities, but again this is typical husky stuff! He just wants someone to take him home and love him forever, and wouldnt mind a playmate or two!
