My story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ava came to SFCR in early January after a life of commercial breeding.
She came to us with a severely fractured jaw and in need of a significant amount of veterinary care.
She saw a specialist at AERC in MN and underwent surgery to remove part of her lower jaw as well as a few remaining teeth that were diseased and causing her discomfort. Ava does not have any remaining teeth in her mouth but feels like a million bucks now that she is no longer in pain. She eats canned food twice a day and is offered dry kibble as she pleases.
Ava is a very special little dog that has been through an awful lot in a few short months. She is so happy and you can see in her eyes how much better she is feeling.
Ava has done very well with her housetraining and is crate trained. Ava does well with other dogs and cats but is nervous around small kids. She would love a quieter, adult home where someone is around most of the time. She is a great little lap dog.
Ava is not comfortable walking on a leash or going to the bathroom outside while leashed so a fenced yard is a must.
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
Physically fenced in yard. Adult only home.
Ava has been spayed and underwent advanced oral surgery while in rescue. She tested negative for heartworm, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, dewormed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500 plus tax.
*Please keep in mind the rescue put just under $7,000 into Ava's veterinary care. We are asking to recoup a very small amount of these funds via her adoption fee. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2023, 6:07 pm
