Australian Shepherd - Maisy - Medium - Adult - Female - Dog

　　Maisy needs a patient, loving person and doggy pal who will help her back to the place of joy she wants and deserves. As far as breed, Maisy seems most like a small Australian shepherd or Golden retriever mix. She has silky smooth golden fur, mismatched ears, and a large scar on her nose of unknown origin. She has come a long way with accepting love and affection and now will approach you to be scratched around her head, neck and shoulders when she is feeling secure. She especially loves morning time. She often shares her dog bed or crate with one of the other dogs in the house and totally ignores my cat.

　　Maisy will do best in a low traffic, adult only household and requires at least one other stable doggy companion to help with her confidence, and several dogs would be even better. She?s like a totally different dog if she has a doggy leader around. She loves to run at the dog park but needs patience for walks around the neighborhood because she?s very scared of noises but is sooo much better at this now ? and again, she?s much braver with a buddy dog. She loves to play with dog toys, especially squeaky toys. She has a nervous energy sometimes so we do recommend crating her until you know you have chewable things out of her reach. Mostly she likes to shred papers and hard plastic items so furniture is safe but DVD cases will suffer! Luckily she loves her crate so that part?s easy. She is house trained most of the time but because she has some fear issues with noises she?s one of those dogs that you need to make sure they actually do their business before they run back inside. She is very submissive and will tolerate a lot of rough play from rowdy dogs.

　　Maisy truly loves her hikes and dog park outings and benefits greatly from lots of exercise. I?ve even started her on bike rides. However, please note, she will pull extremely hard on the leash during panic attacks and does require a harness on walks. When she goes to a new place for the first time her fear level is extremely high. If you wait with her for about five minutes, sitting or standing, it allows her some time to adjust and get her bearing enough to calm down. And again, having the right buddy dog along makes this a lot easier. She?s been going to some training classes and it has helped her a lot also. She is very smart but hasn't been taught many commands yet. She currently knows "come" mainly for treats, ?outside?, ?let's go? and ?dinner?. Oh, and her favorite word ?popcorn?.

　　Maisy is a hard luck case that would love to get a second chance at being loved and appreciated. If you want a great companion for your current doggy she?s the one!
