Description

  Australian Military Forces Medallion-brooch (#166 - CC35) $18

You are looking at a rare historic Australian Military Forces medallion-brooch which was used as a hat badge and issued from 1956 to 1969 to the Australian Army. Made from a gilt-bronze with two clutch pins to fit the hats, this design was commonly used in the "Vietnam era". In 1956, the medallion was changed from brass to copper and "Commonwealth" was dropped from the title and changed to the "Australian Military Forces".

The badge features the rising sun design with the "Queen's" crown and inherited the name "Rising Sun" badge. Originally chosen the "General Service Badge", it is now officially called the Australian Army Badge, but will always be referred to as the "Rising Sun Badge".
