Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) - Varika - Medium - Young

　　Ok here goes! Varika was rescued after living the first six months of her life on a leash that was only 2 and 1/2 feet long and tied around her neck. It had to be cut off her. She is a very funny, playful, loving dog. She is still young. At eight months old she is not totally house broken as I am a cat rescuer and she likes to chase cats. So, she mostly stays outside. She is rowdy and plays very rough with my other dogs. However, she has never hurt anyone or anything. She is safe for small children only if there is constant supervision as she would probably knock them down with her enthusiasm. She likes other dogs and cats and will not chase if the cat stands still. The cats basically hate her, but tolerate her. People and dogs think she's great. Varika is only 26 pounds. She thinks she is a big dog, so she needs to be with medium to large gentle dogs. Otherwise she might get hurt. Someone with no other pets would also be an excellent choice as she is very busy. You will never be bored or lonely with her. If you want to lose weight try this dog..... she is a work out. Trips to the park have her very interested in new smells. She will chase cats, bunnies and birds-- so do not take her if these are in your yard. If you want them out of your yard she will chase them and not hurt them. She is spayed, up to date on shots and has a microchip. We have applied frontline to her. Her coat is very short. She will need to wear a coat when outside in the very cold weather. She enjoys our pool that I keep for the dogs. They drink out of it and stand in it. Busciuts are something that just make her do anything for you. Training will be easy with little pieces of biscuits. She likes the pnut butter ones from safeway and milk bones the best. She chews, digs and tears up her toys. She is a puppy. If you don't want to invest a lot of time, do not take this dog! If you have grand children they are safe with her except for her jumping all over them.
