My story
I'm Aurora, a 1 year old classic Basset that came to BROOD with my mom (Vivian who was recently adopted) and my sister after our owner moved and didn't want us anymore. I may be pretty as a princess but I assure you, I am no Sleeping Beauty!!!I am a very active girl, very much a puppy with lots of puppy behaviors. I am always on the go and looking to have some fun so I will need a family willing to continue the work my foster family has started. I am working on my house training. It's all new to me as I was previously an outside dog only and have had lots to learn about being a part of a family. I do love people and children and tend to jump up to greet them. For that reason, I'd be best in a home with older kids as I may knock smaller children down. I do love being outside and mastered the doggie door in my foster home in no time at all. I will need a home with a fenced yard so I can get my fill of the great outdoors.I am pretty quiet and usually only bark when playing or letting the deer in the yard know that I'm the boss!! I get along great with other dogs and am always ready to play. But I can also entertain myself if no one is interested in doggie games. Squeaky balls are my favorite toys to play with. Though I am very active, my favorite time of the day is when my foster family is settled for the evening and I can snuggle while having doggie dreams of the days adventures!I am a goofy, fun-loving, lovable girl that is sure to enchant you! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $400.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/.
We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania.
Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state.
We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference.
The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records.
The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup.
Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record.
***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 09/05/2023
