My story

　　12/10/21 This handsome boy is Atlas. Atlas was surrendered to the shelter because his previous owner felt he was too big for their apartment. Atlas was said to be an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate boy. He is also said to be a kennel trained and pad trained. Atlas was also trained to open doors so his new owner should be aware of that! Atlas has picked up a few naughty tendencies - he was known to jump on people, counters, and over fences. Atlas was also known to dig, chew, scratch, and get into the trash. Atlas is very much a puppy still and is looking for an owner who can dedicate time into training him! He would very much benefit from going to a basic obedience class. Atlas was said to do well with strangers and adults. We do not know how he does with smaller kiddos so please supervise meetings! Atlas was said to do well with dogs and pocket pets. His owner stated that he does very poorly with cats but did not elaborate on how he acts. Because of that we are requiring that he goes to a home without any cats. Atlas is a sweet boy who is looking for an active home. Atlas does have hip dysplasia and will need to be on joint supplements and need to remain at a healthy weight to help ease discomfort on his joints. Atlas has been evaluated by a veterinarian who has informed us that surgery is not recommended at this time, but that his new owners will need to monitor his condition as he ages and likely plan for FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery in the future. He is looking for someone who can keep him mentally and physically stimulated and continue on with his training! If you are interested in meeting Atlas please give the shelter a call!
