Athena May's story
Adoption fee on this dog is $300.
Athena May is a 3 year old black and tan female with very soulful eyes. She currently is in need of losing at least 15 lbs, but regular exercise and limiting her food intake should help get her back in shape in no time. She was surrendered to us by a Good Samaritan who took her in when her roommate abandoned her at her local shelter.
Athena is housebroken and has great house manners. She knows basic commands and has been good with all the children she has met. She has moderate to high energy and does best when exercised daily (long hikes or runs) to burn some of the energy and calories off. Exercise seems to be key in eliminating the occasional bad habits Athena displays.
Athena is currently living with three other dogs and wants to play with them. Her style is rough and the current dogs are not interest in interacting with her. She does require slow introductions to new dogs and needs to learn not to react toward other dogs when on leash. The prior owner had a bird and Athena was great with it. She doesn't react well toward cats or squirrels she sees outside, so she should not go to a home with cats or other small critters.
An ideal home would be an active home that wants to regularly exercise this girl and include her in many activities. If there is another dog that is a good match for Athena, she is hoping to find one that will play with her in a game of chase or tug of war.
No small cats or critters!
