My story
Meet Athena! She is a beautiful 5-8 year old GSD who had been dumped in rural Oklahoma. Not much is known about her history, but based on her distended mammaries, we suspect she was used for backyard-breeding and has had many litters of puppies. Some good Samaritans were able to catch her and found that she was also severely underweight. Once her stray hold was up, she was taken into foster by Gary- the local animal advocate. She has been with him now for a few weeks and has gained confidence and weight. She gets along okay with other dogs but does have an alpha-dog personality so would prefer to be the only dog if possible. She does chase cats so a cat-free household is recommended for her. She has been spayed and has received the rabies, distemper/parvo and Bordetella vaccines. She is still in Frederick, OK but we would be happy to transport her to anyone in CO who would like to potentially adopt or foster her. Since she is technically not through a rescue right now, she does not have a set adoption fee but any funds going towards her care and transportation would be appreciated. If interested, please contact me at [email protected] or directly contact her foster in Oklahoma at [email protected] Please email [email protected] if you are interested in adopting!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Athena, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
