My story
Will love you to the moon and back!Hey guys! My name is Astro and I am a starry-eyed boy looking for a furever family. I am about 5 years old, male Beagle mix, already neutered and weighing about 35 lbs. I come from a sad background where I spent all my life inside a home, never being taken for walks. TAP rescued me and since then I have been at my foster home, learning that there is a life outside. I am now fully bathroom trained, and learning to walk on the leash.I love my foster doggie sister! I enjoy playing with her and I adore being in the company of people. I am happy to be a couch potato but get pretty excited on walks. I really enjoy hikes too! When lounging about, I am all for the pets. I like being tummy up to make it easier for ya to pet me! If you want some work done, I am happy to be by myself too across the room. I am quite food motivated and have done wonders in terms of training with treats. I am smart like that! My foster sis and I are fed separately of course. I am very sweet with kids I meet, but due to my over-excitable jumps, I'd rather be with adults. I do love a lot of attention, but with guests, we may need to worn on me for a bit.My past ordeal has left me with separation anxiety, and reactivity to noisy and busy environment, extra stimulus to stranger people, dogs, crows on my walks. I have a tendency to lunge and I need strong humans to control me. I have anti-anxiety meds but sometimes the stimuli take over. My foster mama says that I am multi-folds better than what I was! With continued positive reinforcement training, I am confident that I can get better. Long walks and hikes are helping a lot! I have learnt that meeting dogs in a neutral , quiet environment is better for me. I mean, I do love my foster sis!I would love an adults-only family, with dog experience, who is able to look past my past, and offer me the universe! I need a quiet home with regular, consistent training, and incremental exposure to outside stimuli. I am a loving dog and will benefit from human interaction. I need a strong dad or mom to handle a dog who lunges at other dogs and people. But I pawmise to get better with training. I have improved dramatically since my first walk, so I am an eager learner. I would benefit from being with someone who will take me on hikes as well as daily training walks. If you think you have a lil space for me in your home and a big one in your heart, please come and meet me! My adoption fee is $300 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/##1148028##
