Additional info:
This is a very heartbreaking story, so get your tissues ready. Aston was surrendered to the shelter extremely scared and matted, especially around his face. When the shelter tried to cut away his hair he put up resistance.
They eventually had to sedate him and what they found under all that hair was, bulging, blood shot eyes.
We were able to get him out of the shelter and into a vet.
The vet thinks that Aston took a pretty severe hit to the back of the head which caused his eyes to bulge out of their sockets. The vet was able to make him as comfortable as possible for now, but he will need to see an ophthalmologist and may have a long road ahead of him.
He is understandably extremely jumpy and sensitive to touch, (we can only imagine why) so he needs to be handled with patience and caution, especially around his face.
No kids, and maybe no other dogs for now.
