Asia's story
My name is Asia and I am a very special little senior. I was originally found as a stray in 2/2011. I had some vision problems which needed to be addressed therefore was transferred from a shelter to rescue. I have a detached retina in my right eye and don't make any tears. After lots of visits to the Ophthalmologist we were able to to get my eye pressure to a normal level and with a regular regiment of eye drops we were able to get my eyes as healthy as possible. In 6/2012 I was adopted to a family who lived in the mountains. I lived there for approximately 5 years. In September 2017, I was loose in the mountains and found by a good samaritan who took me to a local veterinarian. They contacted CJCR who was listed on my microchip. I was in pretty rough shape. I was about 3 pounds under weight and my eyes were so dry I could not close them. Since my return to rescue I have had a dental, my right eye removed (which was non functioning), an echocardiogram and lots of care and love. I have severe heart disease, however am not symptomatic and am now taking daily medications. My foster mom is trying to keep my remaining eye as healthy, comfortable and functional as possible. I take twice daily medication for heart disease and get a series of eye drops throughout the day. I am playful, affectionate, housetrained and a sweet little 12 year old just looking for a home in which I can live out the remainder of my life. I would be a great only dog but need someone who can administer eye drops about every 4 hours. I do get along with other small breed dogs after I get to know them. I am a very special dog looking for a very special home.
