  Asha's story

Say hello to Asha! This fierce little baby is too cute to be true! She sadly comes from a puppy mill where she was miss treated and neglected (a form of abuse). Poor baby girl is learning that people mean her no harm now! Due to her past, she doesn't like being handled. She doesn't enjoy being picked up. She is shy at first but very slowly warms up. VERY slowly. She wants to love, trust and be loved in returned, but at a distance. She just needs a family that can understand they need to be patient with her. She does great with other animals and we think she would do best in a home with other animals. She won't be great with kids. She isn't the type of dog that you can carry around all day and dress up. She is more like cat, so to speak. With time her personality will open up more and change. However, we think she will never like to held and will always prefer other animals to humans. Asha needs a loving home that understands they're giving her the best life SHE could ask for and the way she is living life is how she wants it!

What is this pets story? How did it end up in a rescue?

Please understand, most the animals with Found Nation Animal Rescue

come from other states, due to poor breeding laws, poor animal welfare

laws, and a lack of understanding and knowledge about these special

souls. A good majority of our animals were rescued from high kill shelters

where they are picked up as strays, taken from horrible conditions or simply

dropped off because someone didnt love them. Very rarely do we have

a full background and history but we will let you know if we have

additional information about the animals past.

What other pets has this animal been exposed to, and how did they react?

tons of dogs, cats and a rabbit she loves anything with fur!

Has this pet been around small children, and how did they react?

yes she has been around kids, but does not do well with small children that try to hold her but is getting more used to gentle older children.

How does this pet react to men, women and strangers?

She is still learning to trust people and is very shy but once held she will fall asleep in your arms. She doesn't like being reached for and picked up so getting her to be held is the hard part.

What type of food has the pet been eating, how much and on what schedule?

she eats natural food from Bentleys Pet Stuff, variety of proteins, brands and types (loves raw). She also loves goat milk!

Are there any behavioral issues that have been noted?

she is just very shy and independent unless there are other animals around, then she will play and follow them around

Has this pet had any sort of training, and what training methods were used? Are there any command words familiar to the pet?

no real training, just trying to let her adjust and get used to people and not reprimanding her if she does anything wrong, which she doesn't!

What type of collar or harness is the pet accustomed to wearing? regular collar

Is the pet housetrained? How many accidents have they had in the house? *PLEASE NOTE - every animal may become stressed when moving to a new house with new rules and layouts. It is always a great idea to start from the beginning with potty training and always supervising the animal until it learns your house, schedule, and signals.

Yes, she came to us using her crate as a bathroom, after being with multiple other dogs she learned very quickly that they only use the bathroom outside so she will too

In dogs, what type of potty break schedule have they been on, or is the dog trained to go to the bathroom on papers or a litter box? Started using pee pads but she will no longer use them and goes outside, crate trained at night and only potties outside when let out with the other dogs multiple times a day

Where does the pet sleep at night? In a bed, in a crate, in the fosters bed, etc? Does it sleep through the night? she sleeps in a crate at night next to two other chiweenies in crates, sleeps through the night

In dogs, are they accustomed to staying in a crate when left alone? How do they react to confinement? The crate is still her safe place and she likes to sleep, eat and ride in the car in the crate

Does the pet cope well with new places? Does it travel well in a car? Travels great in crate in the car, feels comfortable in new places as long as her dog friends are with her

Does the pet have any favorite toys or games? She loves stealing the cats toys, jumping into the dogs toy box, regular size tennis balls, chasing the bigger dogs that play fetch outside, playing with cats and rabbits

Anything else you want to share with potential adopters? She is such a precious little girl with the biggest personality if you have the patience to let her become comfortable and let her do her own thing, must have other pets for her to bond with!

Can you adopt her today? YES ** If you apply for her today and are approved, you will need to set up an adoption meeting and that is where you will officially adopt her.

How much is her adoption fee? Asha's is only $250.00. This includes DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies vaccination, dewormer, flea/tick treatment, and spay.

How do I apply? Find a volunteer and ask if she has an adoption hold placed on her. If no hold is placed, you can then ask for an application. Fill it out and hand right back to a volunteer.

**Please note** If you have other animals in your home, we require proof that all animals are up to date on vaccinations. If they're not up to date, you will not be approved. To adopt an animal from Found Nation Animal Rescue, be sure to apply online
