I don't know much about spinning chairs or pouting chairs as they are also called. This one I got with the strengtheners that you see and I have used this chair many times. I know it is a hardwood, I think it may be Ashford but I really don't know.  It is a nice sturdy serviceable chair with lots of life left in it.  Beware that it weighs 8 pounds and because of it's size would be difficult to ship.  Pick up would be the most inexpensive was to go.
