My story
Arizona is a large chestnut brindle girl with extraordinary ears who is so ready to go home with a family who are calm and experienced with high-energy, loving dogs. Small children and cats are a no-go. She would be great for an active family, especially since she loves to exercise, go for walks, and go swimming. She is a great water dog!
She has been here longer than any other dog, but it's been time well spent. The shelter has worked to polish her behavior. She is now the most classically obedient dog at HES. She knows Sit, Down, Stay, Heel, Place (go to a bed) and even Shake Hands - and does not pull when walked. She's also had some disc training and would be a great disc dog.
At first, we didn't think Arizona liked other dogs but now she has lots of friends. They just have to be able to tolerate her outspoken, pushy play style.
She is also a very loving dog. She may bark at the kennel door when you visit her, but when you become her people, she gives wonderful doggy kisses.
To be sure all goes well, her adopters will be required to take training with her. It won't cost extra. It's just to be sure you understand each other well.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Arizona, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
