My story

　　04/04/22 Archie, previously known as Roo, came back to the shelter after getting nippy with the children in the home. This is typical behavior of herding breeds, such as border collies, but we are requiring Archie go to a home without children under 5 as a result. Enrolling Archie in classes with a certified trainer can help him learn to redirect his energy when he feels the urge to herd, to more appropriately contain his enthusiasm, and learn personal space. Archie is said to be kennel trained and housebroken. He is very outgoing and friendly but can be rough when playing. He is said to get along with everyone- humans, other dogs, cats, and pocket pets. However, we still do not know his opinions on livestock, so please keep such introductions slow and controlled. Archie is a very vocal dog that could learn a few manners because he does have a habit of getting into garbage, chewing, and jumping on people and over fences. He is looking for a home that can keep him properly contained. Archie is said to be obedience trained, but we are unsure of what commands he knows. Roo came in as a stray but was surrendered shortly after. Roo is said to be housebroken and will whine at the door when he needs to go outside. He has done excellent at keeping his kennel clean! Roo's previous owner stated that he did mark on his parents couch once but that seemed to be a one time occurance. Roo is young energetic boy looking for a new home that can match his energy! He was also said to enjoy car rides so the world is his limit! We do not know how Roo does with other dogs, pocket pets, or livestock. He was said to get along with the cat in his previous home. Please make sure to do all introductions in a safe and controlled environment. It can take some time for our shelter pups to adjust to their new homes. Roo's previous owner stated that he was a picky eater and that they would have to entice him to eat. He has been eating dry annamaet kibble here at the shelter and seems to enjoy it!
